Award Press Release

Meade County Schools Classified Team Member of the Year Regina Decker has been named one of three statewide finalists for the 2026 Fred Award through the Kentucky Association of School Administrators.

The Fred Award recognizes support staff across Kentucky who make a lasting difference through daily service, meaningful relationships, and leadership shown through ordinary moments. Inspired by The Fred Factor, the award honors individuals whose work positively shapes the experience of students, families, and school communities.

For Meade County Schools, this recognition is especially significant as Regina becomes the first employee from the district to be selected as a finalist for the statewide award.

As a bus driver, Regina’s work reaches far beyond transportation. Each day, she provides students with a steady and caring presence, building trust with families and creating an environment where students feel safe, known, and valued. Her attention to children, consistency with families, and quiet commitment to service have made her impact deeply felt across the community.

In its announcement, KASA described Regina as “far more than a bus driver,” highlighting the way she transforms each ride into a safe, welcoming, and meaningful experience for students.

Regina will attend KASA’s Annual Leadership Institute in Louisville in late July, where the 2026 Fred Award recipient will be announced. All finalists will be recognized during the statewide event.

As part of the nomination process, Meade County Schools submitted a video highlighting Regina’s daily impact and the relationships she has built with students and families.

This recognition reflects the important role support staff play in shaping students' daily experience and reminds us that meaningful impact often begins in the simple moments that happen every day.

Meade County Schools is proud to celebrate Regina Decker and the way she represents the heart of service within Team Meade.
