The Meade County Board of Education will hold a public hearing at Stuart Pepper Middle School, 1085 Old Ekron Rd, Brandenburg, KY, on September 8, 2026 at 5:45 PM EST (4:45 PM CST) to hear public comments regarding a proposed general fund tax levy of 58.5 cents on real property and 58.9 cents on personal property. The Board of Education is proposing to keep the tax rate the same as last year.
The General Fund tax levied in fiscal year 2026 was 58.5 cents on real property and 58.9 cents on personal property and produced revenue of $12,586,849.05. The proposed General Fund tax rate of 58.5 cents on real property and 58.9 cents on personal property is expected to produce $13,765,238.64. Of this amount, $2,445,796.30 is from new and personal property. The compensating tax for 2027 is 56.9 cents on real property and 56.9 cents on personal property and is expected to produce $13,373,949.34.
The general areas to which revenue of $1,178,389.59 above 2026 revenue is to be allocated are as follows: Cost of collections, $44,778.80 and employee salaries, $1,133,610.79.
The information is published pursuant to KRS 160.470. The proposed tax rate is not subject to recall under KRS 132.017.
The General Assembly has required publication of this advertisement and information contained herein.

Once again, we submitted our application using the important information families provide through beginning-of-year forms, and we have officially been approved for another year. We are excited to provide this benefit to every family while ensuring all students have access to nutritious meals each school day.

Open House Information for the 2026-2027 School Year.
Healthy Kids Clinic will once again offer walk in sports physicals for families in our community as students prepare for the upcoming school year and athletic seasons. This service is open to the public and provides a convenient local option for completing required athletic physicals before practices and tryouts begin. Families are encouraged to bring a current insurance card at the time of the visit.
We are excited to announce that Commencement Exercises for the Class of 2026 have officially been scheduled for Friday, May 15th, at 7:30 PM on Hamilton Field! We cannot wait to celebrate this class's accomplishments at our traditional Graduation Ceremony!
